Tonight’s the night! Ahoy, Dexter fans! Meet the SLICE of LIFE, the legendary boat that became an iconic symbol in the gripping Showtime series Dexter, captivating audiences across all eight seasons from 2006 to 2013. While a 28-foot Whitewater was used for the pilot episode and parts of Season 1, this 29-foot 2901 Century Center Console took center stage as Dexter Morgan’s trusty seafaring companion throughout most of the series. More than just a vessel,” it was an extension of the character’s shadowy double life, gliding through Miami’s waters under the cover of night.
During production, the SLICE of LIFE spent most of its time on a trailer behind a sound stage in Los Angeles, making annual trips to Miami for those unforgettable establishing shots. After filming wrapped in 2013, the boat was sold by Sergio Orozco, the show’s transportation coordinator, to stunt coordinator Wally Crowder, who owned it until 2020. Since then, it has been lovingly cared for by the current owners James and Danielle Judge, who oversaw a complete repower in 2020—swapping the original twin 250 Yamaha engines for robust twin 300 Suzukis—while taking meticulous steps to restore and preserve its original on-screen appearance.
Whether you’re a die-hard fan reliving the show’s intense moments or a boating enthusiast admiring her sleek design and history, the SLICE of LIFE is a tangible piece of television lore and one of the most famous boats in the world.
